Deltamethrin
A synthetic pyrethroid insecticide effective against a broad range of pests with high residual activity in agriculture and households. It acts on sodium channels, causing prolonged nerve stimulation and paralysis. While classified as 'safe' for mammals, it poses significant health risks including ataxia, convulsions, and respiratory failure. Highly toxic to aquatic life and non-target species like bees, with widespread resistance in malaria vectors. Human exposure can lead to acute and chronic toxic effects, and residues have been detected in breast milk.
